More Space to Wrestle: Thank You to the Ontario Trillium Foundation
Beat the Streets is excited to share that we have received a Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to purchase two new portable wrestling mats for our school-based programs.
As our after-school programs continue to grow, so does the need for equipment that allows more young people to participate safely and fully. Our existing mats are well used across our programs, but demand is growing faster than our available training space.
These new mats will help change that.
One mat will increase training capacity at Chief Dan George Public School, where our after-school wrestling program continues to grow. The second portable mat will support our broader network of school-based programs and can be moved between locations as new partnerships and opportunities develop.
For Beat the Streets, access to sport is about more than simply offering a program. Young people need safe, welcoming spaces where they can participate consistently, build skills, develop confidence and feel part of a community. Having the right equipment is an important part of making that possible.
We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Government of Ontario for investing in our community and helping us continue to expand access to wrestling for young people across Toronto.
We look forward to getting the new mats on the floor and putting them to very good use!
