Memories of Work It 2022

The most intensive skill-building program BTS currently offers is the Work It program. Through Work It, we are able to connect with youth, daily, for 8 weeks and use workshops, mentoring and real work experience to increase their employability skills and find success in the workplace. As a result, it's one of our most rewarding and favourite experiences of the year.

In 2022 we served 16 students, both in office and summer camp positions. And we housed them in our newly refurbished community space, funded by the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative.

But this program is more than just skill building. It's relationship-building, networking and growing. It's about the participants having a real-work experience that allows them to bond with their colleagues, learn new skills and also learn about their own capacities.

And we are grateful to Arwen Mercado, Work it participant, who captured our special summer on film and put together this short film for us.

If you would like to be a part of our Work It program, check our page April/May 2023 for application information.

As always a big thank you to Canada Summer Jobs for funding this program.
