Meet Taha Shafiqi, Again.

I would like to start off by expressing my appreciation and giving special thanks to Summer Jobs Canada and Beat the Streets Toronto for this job opportunity.

Why BTS?

When I found out Beat the Streets was hiring this summer, I applied without a thought. Who wouldn’t want to help a charity that makes an actual difference in low income youth’s lives? The fact that they have served more than 21,000 youth in the GTA since starting up in 2015 is absolutely mind-blowing, and inspires me to do the best I can in increasing that number.

Who am I?

I’m Taha Shafiqi, a Fundraising Assistant for Beat the Streets Toronto, and I am 17 years old. This is actually my second year working for this charity, and my second year working as a Fundraising Assistant. Last year, I acquired soft skills such as time management, organization, and collaboration, and hard skills such as data entry, analysis, and development. These skills allowed me to excel in and outside of school, and I will use them in my next 7 weeks with Beat the Streets.

My Interests

I am very interested in soccer and everything surrounding it. Watching it, playing it, collecting soccer jerseys, checking out new shoe models etc. I grew up supporting Real Madrid, and I still watch almost all of their games. MMA is also a huge interest of mine, specifically watching UFC and boxing from time to time. Walking around my neighbourhood at night is something I cannot miss without feeling super “off” the next day.

My goal is to live somewhere quiet with my family, and have nothing to worry about.
