Get to know Arwen!

Hello, I am one of the Social Media Community Managers.

The arts have always been a huge factor in my upbringing. I have just graduated from St. Marcellinus secondary school with a Special High Skills Major in the arts and culture and hope to continue my creative journey through this position. Joining the Beat the Streets team will allow me to exercise my creative skills, further my knowledge in marketing, and surround myself with people who will motivate me to achieve my goals. While I work with Beat the Streets I hope to create many interactive, fun, and appealing posts that will connect and speak to youth.

This coming September I will be attending Sheridan College for their Honours Bachelors program in Film and Television. I believe that working in this position will present me with a tremendous amount of experience and opportunities I will need to propel my future goal of working in the media production industry.

Facts about me!

  1. I can’t live without a creative outlet.

Similar to how people use physical activity as a tool to reset themselves, I use creative outlets like playing instruments, photography, and videography as a form of stress relief to reset my day. I am certainly not the best but I sure do enjoy it.

2. A goal I have for this summer is to get an acting gig.

My curiosity about being on a set is what propels me to achieve this goal. I have always loved acting and have taken drama classes throughout all 4 years of high school. This does not have to be the main character role, a simple background character will do.

3. I played the bass and snare drum in my school's drumline

My initial reason for joining was to have more volunteer experience on my resume, but ended up loving the experience! My favourite memory from this would be performing in the Toronto Santa Clause parade.

Thank you Canada Summer Jobs for providing me with this opportunity and youth development space to heighten my employment skills!
